Below will be a list with a short explanation if any for each shortcut:

alt+tab = Easy way to switch between different programs and applications while browsing or even gaming.

win+left arrow = Snaps the window to the left half of your screen.

win+right arrow = Snaps the window to the right half of your screen.

win+ up arrow = Maximizes the window to fill the screen

win+down arrow = Minimizes the window, and press it twice minimizes it to your taskbar.

ctrl+shift+esc = Easy way to access the Task Manager instead of the typical “Ctrl+Alt+Del”.

Ctrl + tab = (While In Browser) One can switch between the opened tabs. (i.e Firefox)

alt + f4 = Easy way to close out of an application, program, or browser

f5 = Refreshes a page from cache (Even if a page is changed, you won’t see it since the page may load from the cache instead)

ctrl + f5 = Forces to empty the cache and loads the site as a fresh one.

f2 = Easy way to rename documents and files instead of right-clicking and pressing rename.

If you found any useful day to day shortcuts you do, please post them.

Isn’t it annoying to plug in your USB or any other kind of external device to your computer and it scans or asks you what to do with it? Well… Some people may already know what to do and it is a hassle to close the autoplay feature each time we plug in our device. Below are some instructions to successfully disable this feature:

1) Click Start (Windows Orb)
2) Type in “run” in the search bar
3) Click on the “run” icon
4) Type in “services.msc” and press enter
5) Search for “Shell Hardware Detection” in the list
6) We want to right-click this item and select “properties.

7) We now want to disable this item
8.) From the drop down, click Disabled, and press Apply. You may be asked to disable something else afterwards
8a) If so, continue to press OK/Yes and restart your computer to complete the changes
9) You should no longer be plagued by the autoplay feature!

One will typically see Digital Signing when one tries to attempt to install a certain driver that has modified code which fails authentication. This may get annoying if you are sure what you are installing is safe and won’t harm your computer in any way. Digital Signing also helps in verifying that the code is not corrupted or modified by anyone, since most drivers will have a certain hash/check-sum to verify the authenticity of it.

To disable digital signing check, you can follow the steps below:

1) Click on the Windows icon start button and type in “cmd”
2) Once seen in the search menu, one can right-click on “cmd” icon and click on “Run as Administrator”
3) You will now copy and paste these commands into the cmd window

Usually highlight the text, and in the cmd window, you can right-click on the cmd window and you will see a “paste” option.

a) bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
b) bcdedit.exe – set TESTSIGNING ON

Upon rebooting, you wont’ be troubled by any driver signing check notice.

However, if you wish to re-enable driver signing one can reproduced the steps and type in the these commands instead

a) bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
b) bcdedit.exe – set TESTSIGNING OFF

If you have CCleaner as a way to optimize your system, CCEnhancer is a great third party add-on for this freeware.
If you are a new PC user, and haven’t got the protection you need to defend against malware, then MSE is a great malware defender that can be combined with spybot search & destroy and also malwarebytes. The best thing about this tool, is that it is freeware and does a great job in detecting malware and backdoors. MSE should not be installed with any other antivirus program like Eset or ZoneAlarm because conflicts can occur. This tool seems to run quite and efficient in the background if your ram is a good amount (around > 3GB) and shouldn’t be a problem with any slowdowns.

CrystalDiskInfo is a freeware. It supports both HDD and SSD. This tool is able to show basic information of your drives to know the condition of them. In this way, you can know ahead of time when your hard drive may crash or try to prevent one from coming. In addition, this tool also monitors temperature, and tells you the condition (Bad, Good, etc)…This means that you can backup your important information if you know something is going to happen to your drives.

This is pretty much some ways to hide information about your website. Although, there are still ways to secure this most likely…

If a specific folder in your website is accessible to people and they attempt to go into a branch of your website…Then they may be able to see contents that they can use to get information or files of the site.

So here is what you can do:

1) Create a blank file named index.php or index.html and upload it to the directory in question.

2) Edit your php.ini:

; Misc
;
; Decides whether PHP may expose the fact that it is installed on the server
; (e.g. by adding its signature to the Web server header). It is no security
; threat in any way, but it makes it possible to determine whether you use PHP
; on your server or not.
expose_php = Off

3) .htaccess

Create a file called “.htaccess” in your document root and put the following in it:

“Options -Indexes” (Without the quotes)

Some Notes:

Editing the expose_php will not stop the directory listing and there is a possibility that your webhost will not all you to edit the php.ini file or the .htaccess.

Mainly, the expose_php method removes the information at the bottom of your directories.

This kind of tweak should be useful for people who use SSD (Solid State Drives). Every time your computer crashes and as a result, a dump file will be made. Usually the purpose of these dump files is so that you can open the file up and try to diagnose the problem and try to solve it.

This kind of helps saves space. For SSD, it helps your drive stay healthy. As some may know, every time a file writes to the SSD it may degrade its performance the life. Although it may not harm it that much…But if the dump file keeps logging the errors and continuously writes to the SSD, then surely the SSD life will decrease.

Now to turn it off:

*Click the windows icon, and right click “My Computer” and click Properties
*On the left hand side, click “Advanced Options”
*Under the advanced tab, you will see a category called “Startup and Recovery”
*Click under it “Settings…”
*Under “Write debugging information”, Click the drop down and click (none)
*Press Ok

That’s pretty much it. You have now stopped logging those dumps.

If you setup a MySQL server on to your Desktop to host a server or storing databases, you may have a lot of users to keep track of and especially the passwords. If you have forgotten your root account’s password, you will be searching everything to find a way to retrieve it without uninstalling MySQl correctly and installing it again.

So I will be telling you one of the ways to reset your root account’s password.

Open up a command prompt by doing (Windows Key+R) to bring a the Run Box.
Next, type in cmd and press enter
A command prompt should appear.

Now what you want to do is to navigate to your MySQL Server installation and find the \bin\mysqld or something similar to that.

This important step requires to disable and also stop any MySQL Services that are running:
In the run box, you can also type in “services.msc” to bring up the list of services and you will be able to find the MySQL services and you should then disable/stop them.

Now we need to create a .txt that pretty much resets our password to what you want:

UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD(‘ragrag’) WHERE User=’root’;
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
*This tells us that our new password will be reset to “ragrag”

Finally, you can return to the command box and take note of the directory the mysqld.exe is in.

You will want to “cd” into where the “mysqld.exe” file is in.

Then enter this line into the cmd prompt:

If you installed MySQL using the MySQL Installation Wizard, you may need to specify a
--defaults-file
option:

C:\>
"C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqld-nt.exe"

--defaults-file="C:\\Program Files\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 5.0\\my.ini"

--init-file=C:\\mysql-init.txt

Source: (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html)

The format should look similar except changing the mysqld-nt.exe, you could use mysqld.exe
And mysql-init.txt is where the "UPDATE mysql.user SET Password" code is in

If you need more assistance with this, I would be glad to make a video guide so you can follow the steps.
